Blue black interior.  Very rare rally car for racing so it has special suspension.

5.0 aluminum motor.  Spoiler. Aluminum trunk and hood.

Repainted but in good shape.  Original paint was dark grey.  Only small tear in driver’s seat.

The car has special 15” wide mag rims that were made just for this car.

This car is a daily driver.  Former owner drove it around town regularly.

Very well maintained.  Oil pressure good.

Mercedes 450 SL’s are everywhere.  But have you ever seen a 500 SLC?  This is a very rare car for the serious collector.

Mercedes-Benz produced this model from 1978 to 1980.  Some say it is one of the rarest post-war models MB ever produced.
They were manufactured to qualify the 450SLC for road rally purposes. Most of the production was sold in the European market.
It is believed that fewer than 100 cars were imported into the United States as grey market cars. A few more cars were
brought in during the 1980’s as a one time “personal” exemption. It is estimated that there are fewer than 100 roadworthy 500SLC’s in the United States at this time.

The 500 SLC’s differed from the stock 450SLC’s in several ways because the cars were built for racing. The hood and trunk lids were made from aluminum to save on weight. They also had front and rear spoilers that allowed the car to achieve a 9 –10% reduction in wind resistance and therefore, a higher top speed.

The motor for the 500 SLC was among the first aluminum 5.0 V-8 motors that MB produced. This motor was lighter than the 4.5 liter iron block counterpart and had greater horsepower. The combination of the rigid chassis, lighter weight and higher horsepower made for a quick, reliable and competitive car that won or placed in several international road rally events, including the Paris to Dakar and Mexican road rallies.

This car has to go up in price because it is so rare!
